The country has been keeping up to date with Tony Stewart's news after the tragic incident, which occurred in the midst of the Empire Super Sprints Series race of the famous New York dirt track. Ward drifted to the outside as Stewart was making pressure on his vehicle, and eventually Ward made contact with the wall. After the yellow caution flag was waved, Ward got out of his car and waved at Stewart for help; however, as the three-time NASCAR champion approached him with his car, the right-rear wheel hit the 20 year-old - he was thrown into the air and died immediately as a result of the contact.

While Tony Stewart's news in the New York court hadn't been made public, the NASCAR champion released a statement through his publicist, Mike Arning, in which he said: "I respect everything the District Attorney and Sheriff's Office did to thoroughly investigate this tragic accident. While the process was long and emotionally difficult, it allowed for all the facts of the accident to be identified and known."
