Mariska Hargitay Children - The Actress has been portraying the Worldwide known character Olivia Benson in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for sixteen years now, a record to many. What not a lot of people know is that in real life, she has three kids who keep her hands full.
Mariska Hargitay had her children at different times with Peter Hermann, an Actor who appeared in SVU as well and they have been married since 2004. It was two years after that, in 2006 that she gave birth to August. It was through caesarean section and she was already 42 years old, so it wasn't easy.
After that, Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann had to go through adoption for the rest of their children. They had two more children, Amaya Josephine and Andrew. The funny thing is that these last two came one months after the other.
As a matter of fact, in an interview that Mariska Hargitay to Good House Keeping in which she opened up completely about her family and everything they went through with Peter in the Adoption process to have their children, she said that after she got Amaya, their lawyer called soon after and said that another baby had been born and if they were interested.
To which, Mariska Hargitay said, "I don't really know what to say about it, other than it was a no-brainer. Peter and I both thought, Let's do it! I'm in! It was like... a miracle. And I don't use that word lightly. I've never made a bigger decision so quickly. The whole thing happened in a total of two days."
And ever since then, the whole family happening has been one great adventure.
The interview was held in 2012, and the interviewer described Mariska Hargitay with her children as smiling, bubbly, and juvenile. Something that is rarely seen in her Olivia Benson character as in SVU, the situations with the victims tend to be too heartbreaking and hard.
It's good to see Mariska Hargitay gets her happy ending every time she returns home with her children and her husband.
