Last year, Taylor Swift released her latest album, "1989," and with it she waged a new war against music streaming services, most notably Spotify and Apple Music, though she latter made up with the latter and her music is now available through that medium, but Taylor Swift's Spotify appearance was a whole other story, save for a brief period last weekend.
Following Taylor Swift's Spotify complaint, when the "Bad Blood" singer said she felt like artists were giving away their money by sharing their music on the platform, all of her songs disappeared from the website, until one sole song magically reappeared last weekend, only under someone else's name.
According to Vulture, Swift's song "I Knew You Were Trouble," from her 2012 album "Red," reappeared on the site for a couple of days, only it wasn't there as a Taylor Swift Spotify song but rather as a Lostprophets song, a Welsh band led by convicted pedophile Ian Watkins.
The Guardian reports that the Taylor Swift Spotify song was on the site for three days over the past weekend, but after media began reporting the issue, the website quickly put it down on Monday morning, leaving many to wonder how the song had gone back up in the first place, particularly under the name of such a heavily controversial band due to its frontman's sex offenses.
According to Gizmodo, while this is the first reappearance of Taylor Swift on Spotify since her well-publicized feud with the site, it's not the first time that a spoof version of this Swift song appears online under the name and artwork of Lostprophets, as last October 27, a YouTube user by the name of Jared Brown posted it on YouTube.
Could this be a new version of famous Internet prank, Rick Rolling? In any case, one thing is certain: Taylor Swift and Spotify continue not getting along.
