Katie Holmes Calls Her Directorial Debut "Challenging and Rewarding"

Katie Holmes has fit herself into some new shoes in the film industry. She put asisde the glitz and glamor of being an actress and this time chose to be in the director's chair and go behind the camera.

The ex-wife of 'Mission Impossible" star Tom Cruise has disclosed that when she switched roles of being the one being filmed to the one filming, she admits that it was a struggle. Holmes directorial debut is titled "All We Had", a movie based on the novel by Annie Weatherwax. It is a story about a mother's struggle to make a better life for her daughter. Holmes is also appearing in the movie and the plot may seem to be very close to the actress/director's heart. Her stint in being behind the scenes of the said movie was thought of the actress turned director as "rewarding"

In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Holmes said: ''I was actually on both sides [of the camera]. It was an undertaking, but the movie was produced by Jane Rosenthal and you couldn't ask for a better producer, so I felt very taken care of."

When asked if having to be the one to call the shots was a challenge for her she said: "Very much so! But very, very rewarding."

''It was very challenging! But very, very rewarding. Hopefully you just get better every time you do it. That's what I'm hoping for.''

Holmes, who first gained fame in her acting prowess in the TV series "Dawson's Creek" admits that she has no regrets. This after her much controversial divorce from husband Tom Cruise whom she shares a daughter with, 9 year-old Suri.

Holmes claims: ''I don't regret anything that I've done. I've learned from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going.

''I have a very normal life, and I happen to work in an industry that is abnormal. Daily life, I take a train and cab; it's just about getting from here to there, and I don't care how I do it. I have to get there.''
