Actor Morgan Freeman and his pilot blew a tire on takeoff from a Mississippi airport and made an emergency landing in which its landing gear collapsed and the plane ran off the side of a runway.
"Sometimes things don't go as planned and a tire blew on take-off which caused other problems. The actor said to TMZ. But thanks to my excellent pilot Jimmy Hobson we landed safely without a scratch." Freeman added, "I cannot say the same about my plane."
Morgan was set to travel to Texas to shoot a segment for the series "The Story of God" - described as an “epic adventure and profoundly personal journey into the eternal mysteries of the divine.”
Mayor Bill Luckett from Clarksdale, a good friend of Freeman's confirmed to the Associated Press that the actor's plane was made a controlled forced landing at a Tunica airport.
A Spokeswoman, Kathleen Bergen of Federal Aviation Administration, describe the plane as an Emivest SJ-30 aircraft and said the plane was reported a "mechanical problem."
The 78-year-old, actor was involved in a 2008 car accident that seriously injured him and a passenger in Mississippi on a rural highway near his home.
And this past August was also a scary situation for Morgan, who has been coping with the tragic stabbing death of his step-granddaughter.
Freeman is known for his roles in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Shawshank Redemption, Unbroken, Deep Impact, Million Dollar Baby, Bruce Almighty, The Dark Knight Rises and The LEGO Movie. He is also a popular voice actor.

Morgan Freeman began his career on stage, first as a dancer and then as an actor, earning a Tony nomination in 1978.
