The star-studded cast of the film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets has added another big name.
The American actor who has been nominated for four Academy Awards - Ethan Hawke, has signed on to appear in the upcoming sci-fi thriller of the French film director, screenwriter, and producer - Luc Besson.
Ethan Hawke will be joining an illustrious cast already, featuring the singer and songwriter - Rihanna, Cara Delevingne (English fashion supermodel and actress), the actor of the drama film Last Knights - Clive Owen and the American actor who is famous for portraying Jesse on the HBO series In Treatment - Dane DeHaan.
Director Luc Besson announced on Instagram, "Ethan Hawke will play in #Valerian! We gonna have fun!"
The character of Ethan Hawke in the futuristic film is still unknown but the movie is an adaptation of the famous 1967 novel by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres'. The Valerian film is set hundreds of years in the future, when persons have discovered how to time travel.
Ethan Hawke is widely known for his long list of action and horror credits. He has recently starred in blockbusters such as the American social science fiction action horror film "The Purge," the American independent coming-of-age drama film "Boyhood" and both films of the supernatural horror movie - "Sinister."
Hawke, who is also a writer and director, has already prearranged for several motion pictures in 2016 as well.
Meanwhile, the film "Valerian" is slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2017.
Ethan Hawke's addition comes less than two months after the 'We Found Love' singer Rihanna was reported to join the cast. And like Ethan Hawke, it remains unknown what role the Barbadian songstress will portray, but director Besson stated that it is significant.
