Just in case your fast food cravings were going beyond what usual joints offer, the new Wendy's gouda offerings bring you one step closer to complete satisfaction cheese-wise, offering one of the most popular "fancy" cheeses out there to two of their menu items.
Taking a step into the gourmet burger business now that smaller restaurants are on the rise all over the world, the fast food chain is adding new Wendy's gouda items, including a new cheeseburger and bacon fondue fries, which are expected to shake things up in the industry.
According to a press release published on PR News Wire, it won't only be Wendy's gouda being added to the chain's menu, but also Swiss gruyere cheese for another touch, stating that "the cheese in the sandwich has so much swagger, the competition is calling for extra defense."
"Nobody creates a cheeseburger and fries experience like Wendy's, and our new Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger and Bacon Fondue Fries are no exception," said the chain's Chief Concept & Marketing Officer, Kurt Kane, on the new Wendy's gouda items. "Our oven-baked bacon and fresh, never frozen, beef are already famous for being delicious. Now we are combining them with aged Gouda and a Swiss Gruyere cheese sauce that are ready to play their own starring role. Just wait until you see what they can do as a team."
As Adage reports, the Wendy's gouda options are unfortunately limited-time offers in the chain, as they're going through a series of new products and promos to entice diners back into their stores.
Sales in the fast food industry have dropped in the past few years, and giants like Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King struggle to keep up with fast casual options like Shake Shack and Five Guys.
According to Meat Poultry, the new gouda items will be getting big-time sponsoring, too, as the chain's enlisted former NFL stars Terrell Owens and Vince Young for a series of video ads on the new products, in a marketing campaign set to launch on November 30 in the form of parody.
As far as prices of the Wendy's gouda options, the Bacon Fondue Fries will sell for $1.99, while the Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger has a recommended price of $4.99.
