Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’ Was About Warren Beatty All Along – But There’s A Catch! [VIDEO]

In 1972, folk superstar Carly Simon released a song about one of her past lovers, which turned into a massive hit thereafter and prompted speculation about who could it have possibly been dedicated to - and now, over four decades later, at least part of the mystery behind Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" is solved.

For the past 43 years, the singer-songwriter has been asked time and again who is Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" about, with decades-long speculation pointing the finger at Hollywood actor-director legend Warren Beatty as well as Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger - and on this case, Beatty (partially) marks the spot!

Speaking to People Magazine to promote her upcoming memoir, "Boys in the Trees," the star was asked once again about the identity of the mystery man on Carly Simon's "You're So Vain," and she stood by her years-long comment that it's a composite of three men, although this time she finally confirmed Beatty was among them.

"I have confirmed that the second verse is Warren," said the 70 year-old New Yorker, referring to the Oscar winner and Annette Bening's husband, shushing decades worth of rumors on Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" - then, when asked whether the star knew it, she added: "Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!"

Of course, as AV Club reports, this was a reference to the song's famous lyrics, "you probably think this song is about you / don't you? / don't you?"

Sydney Morning Herald reports that there's one person who does know the identities of the other two men: the current queen of diss tracks, Taylor Swift! Two years back, long before the "1989 World Tour," the two songstresses shared a stage and it was revealed that Simon told the pop star who it was about, adding Swift had been sworn into secrecy.
