For over four decades, Steven Tyler and Aerosmith have been practically interchangeable words, as the 67 year-old rocker has led the band since its beginnings in 1970 Boston, touring across the globe in the meantime - but now, as he works on his solo career, the band feels quite neglected.
Steven Tyler's Aerosmith involvement goes way beyond just being the frontman, as the star has also the main songwriter for decades, being behind some of their biggest hits like "Janie's Got a Gun" and "Dream On," so it's not as if the band can support itself in his absence, and they obviously resent him for it.
Brad Whitford, the main guitarist for the band, spoke to Billboard about the recent Steven Aerosmith absence, which has forced the band to cancel concerts in early 2016 as well as in the summer - because the singer wants to focus on his solo career, as he's now releasing a country album.
"We kind of feel a little bit abandoned by him," Whitford said of Steven Tyler's Aerosmith practical walk-off, Rolling Stone Magazine reports. "I guess he seems to think his solo career is going to go great guns, and he doesn't seem to realize that - in my opinion - his fans around the globe want to see him in the context of Aerosmith and don't really care for whatever he thinks he's gonna do."
In the meantime, Whitford is following Tyler's footsteps and releasing a solo album outside the band, but as Ultimate-Guitar reports, that hasn't stopped him from feeling disappointed at the recent course his bandmate has taken.
For now, Tyler has made no retort to Whitford's comments, though he was in the news a few days back after announcing the launch of his new foundation, Janie's Fund, to help abused girls.
Even though everybody's curious about Tyler's country project, that doesn't mean any of us wants Steven Tyler's Aerosmith involvement to end after all these years!
