Taco Bell Emoji: Yum Brands Chain Celebrates Successful Lobbying Campaign The Best Possible Way – Releasing 600 Taco Gifs On #TacoEmojiEngine

For months on end, one of the biggest fast food chains in the world, Taco Bell, pushed a tough lobbying campaign for there to be a new emoji in the official list made by Unicode; now, weeks after the petition was successful, the chain's celebrating the Taco Bell emoji!

In their request for a Taco Bell emoji, the chain argued that many of the most beloved and common fast food items out there already had their own emojis, including pizzas, burgers and even French fries, but the taco and burrito had been left out of the equation in spite of being incredibly popular - so, of course, now that the emoji's here, there are many gifs to celebrate!

According to Digital Trends, the California-based company as teamed up with creative agency Deutsch L.A. for a new social media marketing campaign to celebrate the official release of the Taco Bell emoji by launching a full-blown series of original content, gifs in particular (and obviously all of them all taco themed), which will be available on their website soon enough.

As Tech Crunch reports, the dynamic of the new Taco Bell emoji celebration, #TacoEmojiEngine, is this: users can go on Twitter to mention the company's account, @tacobell, mixing the taco emoji with just about any other to in turn receive a reply that combines them both in an epic gif that's both adorable and ingenious.

In all, the company mashed up every single emoji there is to make it taco-themed in the ultimate gif, a fairly understandable approach given how hard they lobbied through Change.org to get the Taco Bell emoji to happen.

"This is about the taco having its rightful place in the official emoji keyboard-this wasn't about us doing a branded thing, this was about the taco itself," Marisa Thalberg, the chief brand engagement officer of Taco Bell, told Ad Week. "We had our hopes raised and dashed a few times along the way, but ultimately Unicode came through, and it's here."
