‘Sherlock’ Victorian Special: ‘Abominable Bride’ Gets New Teaser – And Coloring Book Brings Clues To Benedict Cumberbatch Fan Theory! [VIDEO]

"Sherlock" has been tragically absent from screens all over the world for nearly two years now, since the third season of the BBC show starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, but now the "Sherlock" Victorian special will bring the detective team back in a whole different setting.

While the BBC series is set in modern-day London, this "Sherlock" Victorian special, a one-off called "The Abominable Bride," will portray the two classic literary characters in the original environment they were written in, sir Arthur Conan Doyle's time at the end of the 19th century - and there's some new footage of the upcoming episode.

Den Of Geek recently spoke to the series' showrunners, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, about what to expect from the "Sherlock" Victorian special, one of the most highly-awaited episodes in the BBC's following months, and they seemed fairly giddy at what was coming.

It seems like the "Sherlock" Victorian special is mostly an original story, though it is based on a reference in one of Conan Doyle's stories, "The Adventures of the Musgrave Ritual," where the writer spoke of one of the stories Watson never wrote about in his times with Holmes.

"Here's the record of the Tarleton murders and the case of Vamberry, the wine merchant, and the adventure of the old Russian woman, and the singular affair of the aluminium crutch, as well as a full account of Ricoletti of the club foot and his abominable wife," reads the original reference that inspired the "Sherlock" Victorian special.

As Games Radar reports, some of the footage from the new "Sherlock" Victorian special teaser is recycled from the full trailer, but that doesn't mean it's any less enchanting!

According to Comic Book, that's not the only exciting thing "Sherlock" aficionados these days, as an old theory just saw its rebirth thanks to an official adult coloring book, "Sherlock: The Mind Palace," where it would appear as though Mary Morstan, who married Watson in the past season only to be ultimately uncovered as a spy, may in fact be another of Holmes' nemesis, Sebastian Moran - you can read the full theory here while waiting for the "Sherlock" Victorian special!
