Dwayne Wade's Son: NBA Player Confirms Rumors of Fathering A Child While On Break From Gabrielle Union

Dwayne Wade has nothing to hide.

According to "Entertainment Tonight", the Miami Heat shooting guard confirmed he fathered a child while on a temporary split from his now-fiancée Gabrielle Union, earlier this year. During a press conference Monday, Wade called his son a "blessing" during a difficult time.

"I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy," Wade told reporters. "So I'm moving on."

"Entertainment Tonight" reported that the 31-year-old's son was born a month ago and is the third for the NBA player, who already have two sons Zaire, 11, and Zion, 6, from his marriage to ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches. Wade is also raising his nephew.

The press conference, which took place before the Heat's game against the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center was held a few hours after the news of Wade's child hit online media publications.

"[What matters most] is always focus on what's most important to me and my family, and that's being a great father," Wade said at press conference. "I've always tried to show my importance in my kids' lives and it doesn't change now. So, I, my lady and my family have continued to move forward, and I think that's evident with the ring and the proposal that I gave her, with our lives."

During the Christmas holiday the basketball star proposed to longtime girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, whom he has been dating since 2009, with a 8.5 carat diamond that was designed by Jason of Beverly Hills, according to People Magazine.

In September, Wade spoke to Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" about his break from the actress. Wade blamed it on their demanding work schedule.

"Celebrity relationships [are] very hard," he says. "This was a big year for us and our relationship from the standpoint of she was shooting her show 'Being Mary Jane' going most of the year. I was dealing with my injuries, trying to win a championship, so we kinda took a step back."

"We supported each other ... but at the end of the day we came back together and [said], 'Listen, we want to continue this, we want to continue to try to get better each day,' and she's been with me, and I've been with her all summer long. We're going strong now," he said.
