'Fast & Furious 7' Release Date: Vin Diesel Announces 2015 Premiere 'He'd Want You To Know First'

Nearly a month, after the death of "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker co-star and friend, Vin Diesel took to social media to announce the new release date of the popular franchise.

According to People Magazine, Diesel broke the news on his Facebook page Sunday night:

"The last scene we filmed together...There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared... in the film we were now completing... the magic captured... and, in just how far we've come... Fast and Furious 7 will be released...April 10th 2015!," Diesel wrote on his Facebook.

Diesel added: "P.s. He'd want you to know first."

The movie was given a green light to continue with production in the aftermath of the crash that killed Walker and his friend Roger Rodas on Nov. 30. E! News reported that nearly 60 percent of the film had already been filmed.

Director James Wan made the decision to continue with the film, after the franchise was hit with production delays and cancellation rumors in the wake of Walker's untimely death, People reported

Universal executive first released a statement stating they were planning to shut down production in order to "provide support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers."

"All of us at Universal are heartbroken," a studio spokesperson said in a statement. "Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

According to the Hollywood reporter, the reworked script will retire Walker's character from the franchise using the scenes filmed before his death.
