Actor and comedian Adam Sandler topped Forbes' list of Hollywood's Most Overpaid Actors of 2013.
According to Forbes, the 47-year-old actor, who once had hits with "The Wedding Singer" and "Happy Gilmore," gets an estimated $15 million for each film, despite his films being blockbuster blunders.
The magazine reported Sandler's last three films returned an average of $3.40 for every dollar he earned. "Jack & Jill" grossed approximately $150 million, but cost an estimated $80 million to make. Sandler's latest movie, "That's My Boy" had a budget of $70 million and but only returned $57 million at the box office
Sandler dethroned fellow actor and comedian Eddie Murphy, who received an average of $2.30 at the box office for each dollar he earned. Coming in behind Sandler, is actress Katherine Heigl who has received an average of $3.50 per every dollar she earned. Heigl's recent movies include "Killers" and "One for the Money".
Coming in third is actress Reese Witherspoon, who averaged a return of $3.90 for every dollar she earned. The mother of four's recent films include "Water for Elephants" and "This Means War".
According to Forbes, the list is based on the last three movies each actor has starred in, over the time of three years, ending June 1, 2013. It calculates each actor's pay with the film's budget and expenses and then calculates the return on investment.
Other actors high on the list included Nicolas Cage, whose averaged was $6 and Kevin James, who average $6.10 for every dollar earned.
