Studies Show that Lettuce can Make Us Fat

Health conscious people have tried it. Whenever they eat pizza or ice cream, they usually order fresh salad or eat an apple to feel good about the food that they just had. Some people would order tea or espresso just right after they ate a big slice of cake. According to Stuff, interestingly, people have a funny and deceitful way of mixing those naughty and nice eating habits. Little did they know that it's more harmful than helpful for their health, the salad that they thought could help them loose weight is actually making them gain more.

Earlier this year a story posted said that lettuce has almost nothing in it that can make people not gain any weight. It doesn't have a lot of nutrients that almost people think about and to top it all, it usually occupies the largest part of the salad plate but it only adds to crunch and nothing else.

People tend to overestimate the health benefits of some food and they tend to over eat it believing it can make them healthier. This is called "Health Halo" and one of the best examples would be the salad.

The article didn't only discuss the lack of nutrition of the lettuce but also the other things added into the salad that makes it unhealthy. Salad gives people the chance to add these ingredients like some potatoes, mayonnaise or bacon bits and sour cream. All of which makes the term salad not healthy anymore.

Another study surveyed 1000 people in the supermarket. Fascinating enough, the people who put a lot of green vegetables in their trolley also headed to the ice cream and beer sections.

Finally, people are so focused on the overall health and making the body nourished that they forget to have a little indulgence to make eating food more exciting. There is always room for an additional something to make the food extra special and delicious and there is no need for an excuse to do it.
