Jay-Z and Beyoncé are reportedly embarking on a health-inspired challenge. The music couple will be eliminating meat and animal products from their diets until Christmas.
The rapper revealed on his blog, Life + Times on Tuesday that he will begin his 22-day diet.
"On December 3, one day before my 44th birthday, I will embark on a 22 Day challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!" the music mogul wrote. "This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a 'plant-based breakfast' every day. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought."
The "Holy Grail" rapper went on to explain why he waited until now to practice new eating habits, calling it "a spiritual and physical cleanse."
"There's something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas Day," he wrote. "It just feels right!"
Jay-Z mentioned that psychologists believe it takes an individual 21 days to break into a habit
"On the 22nd day, you've found the way," the rapper wrote. "Any professional vegans out there that have any great food spots please help out! Please ha."
The rapper said he will be supported on his journey by a vegan pal, Marc Borges, who is the founder of the 22 Days nutrition program, which teaches "optimum wellness through conscious nutrition."
Jay-Z ended his note with a little note: "PS: B is also joining me."
"I don't know what happens after Christmas," he wrote. "A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We'll see."
The couple joins a long list of celebrity vegans, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, Chaka Khan, singer Adam Levine, actor Jared Leto, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, director James Cameron, Ellen DeGeneres, Brad Pitt and Olivia Wilde.
Actress Alicia Silverstone, tweeted N.Y.C. restaurant suggestions for the health-conscious pair.
