Texas A&M Stadium Fall: Man Dies From Injuries After Falling Four-Stories at Kyle Field

A demolition worker died of injuries sustained after falling four stories from the Texas A&M University's Kyle Field Stadium in College Station, Texas, on Tuesday.

According to Fox News, 25-year-old Angel Garcia of Lindamood Demolition, died at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center shortly after his accident. Garcia was renovating the Texas A&M stadium when he suffered the fatal fall, which occurred about 11:30 a.m.

Texas A&M officials stated they were deeply saddened by the news of Garcia's death. U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Texas A&M University System and university police are reportedly investigating the accident. Officials did not release any additional details concerning the fall.

"On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away," University President R. Bowen Loftin said in a statement, according to Reuters.

The Examiner reported that police are looking into why a security camera facing the construction site was reportedly offline during Garcia's accident. Earlier this year, four construction workers sustained serious injuries after the new equine center facility collapsed on them as it was being built.

Kyle Field, the home of the university's football team, is currently undergoing a $450 million renovation, which includes increasing seating from 82,589 seats to 102,500 seats. The will make Kyle Field facility's seating the largest in the Southeastern Conference. Currently, Tennessee is the largest football stadium in the SEC, with 102,455 seats.

According to KBTX-TV, the first part of the renovations is expected to be completed by the start of the 2014 season. The complete renovation is expected to be completed by Nov. 2015.
