Veterans Day 2013: Restaurants Honor Service Men and Women with Free Food and Discounts

Veterans will be treated to more than just a parade. 

To honor the many American men and women who are currently serving or previously served in the armed forces, several restaurants are offering freebies in appreciation of their dedication to our country. 

Applebee's is offering vets and active duty members their choice of free entrees from a select menu of: Three-Cheese Chicken & Sun-Dried Tomato Penne, 7 oz. House Sirloin, Chicken Tenders Platter, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger, Oriental Chicken Salad, or Double Crunch Shrimp. Dine-in only.

From open to close Sunday and Monday, every Bar Louie location across the US will offer veterans and military personnel a free meal up to a $12 value when they show valid military I.D. or other proof of service.

Veterans and active military personnel are invited to enjoy free pizza and a non-alcoholic beverage at California Pizza Kitchen as part of their "Real Pizza for Real Heroes" promotion. According to their Facebook page, CPK requests you come in uniform or bring your military ID or other proof of service.

From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m, Golden Corral is offering a free Veterans Day buffet and beverage to any veteran who has served in the United States military or is a current active duty service member. All Golden Corral locations will be participating. No identification is required to get your free Veterans day meal.

Olive Garden offers a choice of free meals on Monday: Chicken Parmigiana, Seafood Alfredo, Grilled Sausage & Peppers Rustica, Cheese Ravioli, Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, or Venetian Apricot Chicken. Of course every meal comes with unlimited soup, salad, and their signature breadsticks. Veterans and active military who come with their families will also receive a 10 percent discount.

Red Robin will offering all Veterans and active duty military get a free Tavern Double Burger and Bottomless Steak Fries. Starbucks Free Coffee is offering active duty military and their spouses get a free tall brewed coffee at participating U.S. company-owned stores.
