Woman Creates Life-Size Cake of of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow

A British woman created near life-size cake of Johnny Depp dressed as Jack Sparrow

Lara Clarke created a 5-foot-5 cake of the actor's character from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies for the Cake International competition held this weekend in Birmingham, England.

"One of my friends was on the phone and said I should enter Cake International," Clarke told the BBC. "I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean...I thought [Depp] would make the perfect cake."

The cake is made of "crisped rice and marshmallows" decorated with royal and fondant icing as well as edible paint, constructed around PVC pipes and stainless steel supports. Clarke only started baking two years ago, after learning the craft from YouTube tutorials.

"It took me 90 hours to make," Lara said. "We live with my fiancé's parents and I think they will be pleased to get rid of it. When my father-in-law first saw [the cake], he leapt about 10 feet in the air thinking we had burglars."

The baker said she needed a mini bus to transport the cake to the contest. The Jack Sparrow cake is the biggest one she's made. She told the BBC that she thought the character would make a perfect cake because of the different textures of the fabrics he wears.

"The cake is designed to be looked at, rather than eaten," Clarke said, "I started it in September so it's probably past its best."

Clarke started baking two years ago, and has created cakes in the image of Kate Middleton, Miley Cyrus and the Grinch, according to the Daily Mirror. Results of the competition are expected Sunday

Earlier this year Clarke created a life like miniature cake that resembles Kate Middleton in celebration of the future queen's royal baby boy, Prince George. The edible life-like dessert feature's Prince William's wife in her famous navy blue engagement dress sitting cross-legged with a big smile.

"When Kate Middleton announced her pregnancy I created a white chocolate topper of the Duchess in celebration," she told the Daily Mail. "I wanted to show that I could make anybody out of chocolate, and she's so pretty it was a lovely challenge."
