Oscar Bet’s 'The Danish Girl' Second Trailer Out Now; New Challenges Ahead [WATCH]

The second trailer for Eddie Redmayne's upcoming film, "The Danish Girl," has been released.

Based on David Ebershoff's acclaimed novel of the same title in 2000, "The Danish Girl" follows the story of the life of Lili Elbe, a Danish artist and transgender pioneer Einar Wegener. Wegener became known in history as the first known patient of gender reassignment surgery, which took place in the in 1930s.

The film's first trailer offers an overview of the beginning of the lead character's desires of womanhood, and the second trailer shows that the road towards accomplishing his desires isn't an easy one, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Alicia Vikander stars as Elbe's wife, Gerda Wegener, before undergoing gender reassignment surgery.

The emotional new trailer shows Gerda being deceived by a man who wants to send Elbe to a psychiatric hospital.

"He wants to lock me up," Lili tells Gerda.

"We trusted you," Gerda tells a man in what appears to be a hospital hallway. "We came to you for help."

In the end, Lili still ends up in an operating table, which means that she successfully found the help she needed.
Eddie Redmayne, who starred as Stephen Hawking in the film "The Theory of Everything", won an Academy Award for Best Actor for the role. For his role in "The Danish Girl," Redmayne is also being considered next year's Best Actor, according to NME.

Recently, Redmayne opened up about doing research for his role in the film, and said that he wanted to "clarify the difference between sexuality and gender".

"I met many people from the trans community, both men and women; I particularly wanted to meet people from different generations, as the film was set at a time when there was no precursor," he added.

"The Danish Girl" is set for release on November 27 in the US and debuts New Year in the UK, according to the Digital Spy.
