For the past 18 years, psychologist Kate Mestitz has been Guy Pearce's wife, joining the actor's rise to fame in the past two decades as a Golden Globe nominee and the star of multiple films - but now, the two have decided to call it quits after nearly a lifetime together.
Before being Guy Pearce's wife, Mestitz and the award-winning actor had known each other for most of their lives, and though they've decided to end their marriage, they're greatly emphasizing that the two will remain close even after their divorce.
"Kate and I will always love and support one another and be the best of friends," said the actor about Guy Peace's wife in the official statement announcing their split to Sydney Morning Herald. "No one knows me like Kate does, and we'll forever be appreciative of our mutual respect. We've both grown enormously through our relationship, but sadly, the time has come to part ways."
According to People Magazine, the "Mildred Pierce" actor kept on praising Guy Pearce's wife on social media, taking to Twitter to say that the two had in fact "parted ways" months back, in January, and sharing that even though they won't be a married couple anymore, currently they "couldn't be closer" to one another.
The Emmy winner also posted a few snaps of Guy Peace's wife saying that their time together was "the best +20 years of [his] life," setting the record straight from the very start about the current status of their relationship.
Although the two didn't give any reasons for the split, Hollywood Life theorizes it may have to do with the way Pearce's career has been picking up once more in the past couple of years, as he sees five of his films coming out this year and has two more project lined up for 2016.
