Sara Gilbert on Being Gay: 'I Always Felt So Scared if it Came Out' (VIDEO)

Sara Gilbert, reveals on "The Talk" that she was gay even while dating her male co-star star Johnny Galecki.

As part "The Talk's" secret-spilling week the co-host shared her story about becoming aware of her sexuality while dating "Roseanne" co-star, Galecki.

"I thought he was super cute and [I] had a total crush on him and we started dating and he would come over and we would make out and then I would start to get depressed," she said. "Johnny felt badly, I think, and started to take it personally and didn't understand what was going on. So, I eventually told him that I thought it was about my sexuality."

Gilbert said she felt bad and still feels bad about it possibly interfering with her career.

The actress reveled she began dating a much older woman, whom was also in the public light, but no one knew at the show for years. Galecki, who now stars on the hit show "The Big Bang Theory," held the actress's secret and gave her the support she needed, then and now.

"I always felt so scared if it came out, what could happen? Could I lose my career?"

Gilbert said she called her former co-star to ask if it was okay for her to stare the story.

"[He said] 'I love you and I think it's really important. I'm so proud of you.'" she said. "He said, 'If you want, I'll be there and hold your hand.' I just thought that was so sweet."

Still, even with the support of friends and family, Gilbert said it's tough to deal with her sexuality, but the actress calls her life with fiancée Linda Perry and her two children amazing.

As part of "The Talk" Secret Week, fans have gotten to know more about the show's hosts, including Julie Chen's past plastic surgery to boost her career, and Sharon Osbourne's "flingy dingy" with Jay Leno years back.
