Soup giant Campbell's soup and coffee company Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. have teamed up to produce Keurig cup Campbell's soups.
According to ABC News, Campbell's Soup will start offering K-cup soup packs that can be made with Green Mountain's popular single-serve coffee machines.
"Campbell's is an iconic brand that shares our focus on harnessing innovation to delight consumers making them an ideal partner as we take this first step beyond beverages for the Keurig system," President Brian Kelley said in a statement.
Campbell CEO Denise Morrison called it a delicious soup at the touch of a button.
According to Green Mountain, the machines are designed to ensure there will be no mixing between the coffee and soup flavors. Green Mountain also offers K-cups for fruit drinks and hot cocoa.
The instant soup will consist of a broth K-Cup pack and an included packet of dry pasta and vegetable blend garnish, ABC reported. Both companies expect to introduce three varieties of the soup in 2014 including Homestyle Chicken Broth & Noodle.
"This innovative partnership is a win for consumers and for both companies, and represents another important step as Campbell expands into higher-growth spaces. Campbell is connecting with consumers in new and exciting ways," Morrison said.
Campbell has been reveinting themselves with new flavors and packaging designed. According to ABC News, its target is aimed toward people in their 20s and 30s. Its "Go" soups, are offered in flavors such as Moroccan Style Chicken and in pouches that can be microwaved.
"Consumers told us we should put Campbell soup in these machines," Kelley said.
