‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: New Red Priestess Melanie Liburd Joins Carice Van Houten’s Melisandre – Will One Revive Jon Snow?

Along with Emilia Clarke's khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen, Carice Van Houten's Melisandre is one of the most iconic female characters in George R. R. Martin's book series of "A Song of Ice and Fire," and fans have great hope set on her for the "Game of Thrones" season 6 - and it seems she won't be alone in her adoration to the Lord of Light.

Although there have been previous introductions to other members of the Church that follows R'hllor, Melisandre is by far the best known one, having been responsible for the deaths of characters like Renly and most recently Shireen Baratheon, and fans are hoping that she'll be responsible for bringing Jon Snow back from the dead on the "Game of Thrones" season 6.

Now, according to Deadline, the HBO show has announced a new addition to the "Game of Thrones" season 6, as British actress Melanie Liburd, who in the past has appeared on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "The Grinder," will be joining the cast to play another follower of this creepy deity - and she's already filming on location  in Spain.

As Screen Rant reports, the new character will be a Priestess of the cult in the "Game of Thrones" season 6, and she will be playing a different version of what Melisandre has been all about in the show so far, and the description seems to only contain three words: beautiful, intense, and magnetic.

According to HitFix, the first theories of the identity of this "Game of Thrones" season 6 have already appeared online, including how she might be a gender-swapped version of book character Moqorro, a priest who offers assistance to Daenerys.

In any case, filming for the "Game of Thrones" season 6 is still going on in a number of locations, most importantly the Catalonian city of Girona, where Mereen scenes are being shot.
