It's been nearly a year since the actor most famous for playing Carlton Banks on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" won the nineteenth season of "Dancing with the Stars" alongside professional partner Witney Carson and now, Alfonso Ribeiro's "DWtS" return is announced, this time as host.
Although fans of Tom Bergeron might grow concerned over his leaving the show, don't panic, Alfonso Ribeiro's "DwtS" hosting is only temporary, as he was only absent from last Monday's episode, giving the past winner a chance to spice things up hosting.
According to USA Today, the reason behind Alfonso Ribeiro's "DwtS" hosting is a tragic one: Bergeron is away on a deeply personal family matter, as he had to travel due to his father's illness, announcing via Twitter that he was on a plane to visit his father on his deathbed after he'd given him "a lifetime of support" so he went over to "return the favor."
A truly heartbreaking story.
As Entertainment Weekly reports, this won't be the first time the "Fresh Prince" actor returns to the show that saw him crowned late last year, as just a few weeks ago the actor and dancer appeared as a guest judge, marking the triumphant Alfonso Ribeiro "DwtS" return.
According to Orlando Sentinel, besides Alfonso Ribeiro's "DwtS" emergency call to fill in for the 60 year-old television personality, the "Silver Spoons" star has had quite a moved week altogether, as he's also succeeding Bergeron as host of "America's Funniest Home Videos" and launching the second season of his show on Food Network, "Unwrapped 2.0" - in all, he's having a massive comeback!
As far as for hosting "Dancing with the Stars" with such short notice, as he had to come in and "figure out" how to do the whole thing, suddenly getting his first-ever live hosting gig.
In any case, Alfonso Ribeiro's "DwtS" hosting saw him lively and fantastic as usual!
