Lamar Odom Missing: Is Crack Addition Reason Behind Failed Marriage to Khloe Kardashian?

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are reportedly experiencing more than material issues.

An unnamed source told TMZ that Odom has been using "hardcore recreational drugs" for the past two years and went to rehab last August. Odom, who won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, stayed clean and played well last season for the Los Angeles Clippers, but sources said he returned to using drugs after the season.

According to the gossip site, no one has been able to contact the NBA player for nearly 72 hours.

Sources told TMZ that the family had tried to stage an intervention over the last few days, but it only angered the New York native.

"Lamar genuinely doesn't think he has a problem. It's all 'work hard then party hard' with him until it goes off the rails," another insider said according to TMZ. "They really do love each other. But she really feels that this problem is out of control, and she's hurt that he won't get help."

Kardashian reportedly kicked Odom out of the house and has not seen him since. People Magazine reported Kardashian has been struggling to help Odom for a long time.

"It's a really hard time for Khloe," a source told TMZ. "She's kept this secret for almost two years trying to save Lamar and their marriage."

The 29-year-old reality star "recently came clean and [her family] has been trying to help since," the source said.

The couple have not been spotted together in public since June 2, and neither has commented on the status of their marriage, even following reports of infidelity allegations. The couple have been subject to persistent rumors that their marriage is in trouble after Odom, 33, allegedly cheated on Kardashian, with two different women. Odom and Kardashian got married in 2009 about a month after meeting each other.

Kardashian took to Twitter Monday to seemingly share her thoughts on the situation:

"It's absolutely heartbreaking for her," the source said. "This is such a heavy load."

This is not the first time Odom has faced drug accusations. He was suspended in 2001 when he violated NBA drug policy twice in eight months, admitting to smoking marijuana.

"I hope everyone doesn't pass judgment on my mistake. I've made a couple and I may make a couple again, but hopefully they won't be as big as this one," Lamar told reporters. "This will never happen again."

In 2012, Odom disappeared from the Dallas Mavericks for 10 days amid reports his father was ill.

"It was really personal and it was something I had to tend to," he said when he returned, according to TMZ. "There are times when we have to fix what is going on off the basketball court in order to fix what's going on on the court."
