John Stamos Plans Date With Young Amputee at Disneyland

John Stamos is a man on a mission.

The "Full House" actor surprised 19-year-old Kaitlyn Dobrow when he dropped in to visit her at an Orange County hospital in California on Tuesday. Dobrow was struck down with the often-fatal bacterial infection meningococcemia in February, according to ABC News.

Stamos, who now stars on USA's "Necessary Roughness," offered a second surprise to the hospitalized teen; he is taking her to Disneyland.

"I'm ONLY doing this cause they asked. I said no press," he wrote, along with the photo he Instagrammed on Tuesday. "But this story is a must read- plus me and Katie have a date to Disneyland."

According to the Daily Mail, after being admitted into the hospital, Dobrow has endured 12 surgeries. But the strong-willed teen was able to sit in a wheelchair for the first time in July and toured the hospital that overlooks Disneyland and some of the rides she hopes to go on.

Kathi Dobrow, Kaitlyn's mother, spoke to NBC4 about her daughter's journey and the hardships her family now face.

"Kaitlyn has had an amazingly positive and courageous attitude throughout this illness and is determined to have a happy, fulfilling life, believing that God has an awesome plan for her future. She is my hero," said Kathi, according to NBC4.

The family has been faced with overwhelming medical bills due to her many surgeries.

A fundraising site has now helped to raise over $77,000 to deal with the costs of rehab and a possible new car that would be better suited for her after all of the health complications as of late.

"I don't like relying on people to do things for me," Kaitlyn told NBC4. "I want to be able to walk again. God has a plan for me ... he wants me to live."

She added that in 10 years she expects to be married with children, and told KTLA5 she was grateful for her family and friends who never gave up on her.

A fundraising page has been set up to help Kaitlyn's recovery at Care for Kaitlyn Dobrow.

According to a Facebook page tracking her progress, the teen is currently on schedule to leave the hospital on Aug. 16 for a rehab center after her skin grafts have healed.

"She's very nervous about leaving the hospital, where she feels safe and knows and loves the staff," the most recent update said. However, "she'll do great once she gets to rehab."
