Sandlot Actor Arrested: Thomas Guiry, Smalls, Arrested for Assaulting Officer and Public Intoxication

Former child star Thomas Guiry has been arrested at an airport in Texas for allegedly attacking a police officer. 

The "Sandlot" star was detained at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Huston, Texas over the weekend for allegedly attacking an officer who was called in after airline workers deemed the actor was too intoxicated to fly, according to CNN news.

The 31-year-old actor faces a felony assault charge against a public servant, according to Huston Police Spokesman John Cannon. 

The airlines called police after they refused to let Guiry board the plane. A flight attendant called a police supervisor to decide if he was stable enough to board or whether he should be placed in jail for public intoxication. 

According to CNN, the actor become agitated and made repeated threats to the police office. He then allegedly tried to kick the officer in the face, a missed attempt. Guiry did succeed in head butting the officer, leading to his arrest. 

The officer reportedly only suffered minor injuries. TMZ reported Guiry posted a $5,000 bail and released. 

Giury is most famous for his role as Scotty Smalls in the 1993 baseball movie, "The Sandlot".

According to E! News, the whole "Sandlot" cast celebrated the film's 20-year anniversary by reuniting at the Salt Lake City baseball diamond where many of the movie's scenes were shot. 

Guiry also appeared on the short-lived NBC series, "The Black Donnellys." More recently he was cast in an episode of the CBS drama "Elementary".
