Hugh Laurie Talks New Blues Album and Stealing from 'House' (VIDEO)

Hugh Laurie joined the "Colbert Report" with Stephen Colbert Monday night, to talk about his second blues album "Didn't it Rain," but despite being over a year removed from his hit show, Laurie couldn't escape questions about his iconic role as Dr. Gregory House on the FOX hit show "House".

"Did you take it from the set and go, 'You know, this might come in handy later, if I lose everything?'" Colbert asked Laurie referring to the prescription pads Laurie took from the set of "House".

"I suppose I was thinking, 'Charming memento,'" Laurie responded. "But, as you say, [it] could come in handy if things go south."

The actor/musician admitted he stills channels the American accent from "House." Laurie said like many British performers he also sings with an American accent.

Laurie said the greatest gift America gave the world was blues.

"Do you know that England's greatest to the world is?" Colbert asked. Laurie responded America.

According to the Epoch Times, Laurie's previous blues album, "Let Them Talk," sold a million copies and went triple platinum.

The actor filmed a PBS special to coincide with the album release called "Hugh Laurie: Live on the Queen Mary." It is scheduled to air Sunday. The special will also stream entirely at PBS's website. Laurie will also be taking his show on the road. He'll tour all over North America through the end of the year.

You can find tour dates on his website.
