Feminists all over the world were thrilled one year ago when the first "Captain Marvel" news in recent years saw Disney announcing that Kevin Feige, the man behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, would also be helming the first stand-alone female superhero film named after Carol Danvers' heroic alter ego - but it turns out she could have come to big screens three years before!
In the most recent "Captain Marvel" news, producer Feige has said that there were originally plans for the character, one of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the comic books (joining the likes of Iron Man, Thor and Captain America), to appear in this year's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" in an early version of the script.
According to The Mary Sue, this "Captain America" news came during a party celebrating the DVD release for this year's film, when Feige was asked about casting progress for the film, and he revealed they weren't "that close" to closing in on an actress - understandably, too, as the film isn't scheduled to come out until the fall of 2018.
In fact, this "Captain Marvel" news sees Feige confirm old rumors that, at one point, the character was close to being written into the second "Avengers" film - but it just didn't seem right.
"It didn't seem appropriate to have this new person in a new costume literally come out of nowhere at the end of this story," revealed Feige, as Movie Pilot reports, speaking of the originally planned cameo introduction to the character. "It would have been a disservice to - what by the time this movie was coming out - people already knew was coming anyway, and a way we could really do it justice."
In other words, it was best that Ms. Marvel was kept out of the story!
While there are rumors that the character might appear on one of the Netflix "Defenders" series (as she's close to Jessica Jones in the comic books), Feige has stated that there will not be any "Captain Marvel" news this year, according to MTV, as they're just scripting the film and "figuring out who we want Carol Danvers to be."
In the meantime, there are rumors that Rebecca Ferguson from "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" is close to snatching the role - but there won't be any "Captain Marvel" news to confirm this casting choice anytime soon!
