Teresa Giudice Released on Bail: Real Housewives of New Jersey Star and Husband, Joe, Face 39-Count Indictment Charges

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice and her husband Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice were released on bond after being charged with federal fraud, USA Today reported.

The couple is charged with a 39-count indictment with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, and making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud.

They're accused of exaggerating their income while applying for loans before their TV show debuted in 2009. Joe is accused of failing to file tax returns for five years, before the show began airing, when he allegedly earned $1 million.

"Today is a most difficult day for our family," Giudice tweeted on Monday after the news broke. "I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me. I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the Government as quickly as possible. Thank you all for your kind wishes, prayers and support."

Teresa's lawyers said she will plead not guilty and that "we look forward to vindicating her."

"We're going to meet these charges and fight them," Joe's attorney Miles Feinstein said.

Joe and Teresa were freed on $500,000 bond each, the Associated Press reported. Both had to surrender their passport and can't travel outside of New York or New Jersey.

According to USA Today, the couple could face up to 50 years in prison, if convicted. And Joe, who is not a United Stated citizen, could be deported back to Italy. The couple have four children together.

Bravo, the cable channel that airs the Real Housewives franchise has not commented on the indictment. The New Jersey series is on its fifth season.
