Only a few weeks after Taco Bell announced they'd be stepping into the fast casual game with two Cantina-themed restaurants (in Chicago and San Francisco) that would step up into Chipotle's game, the second biggest chain in the world is following suit with a similar example by releasing a Burger King wine.
To mark the chain's 40th anniversary in Spain, the fast food chain is launching its own brand of Burger King wine, the Whopper Wine, to celebrate its stay in the wine-rich European nation, and the special edition will only be given to 40 lucky patrons of the chain in the country.
According to The Daily Mail, the Burger King wine is a sweet reference to the chain's iconic way to prepare their meat, as the wine is aged in wooden barrels after being broiled - and, of course, the Whopper Wine was created to match the flavors of the chain's burger perfectly.
As CNBC reports, the way to win a bottle of the Burger King wine is participating through social media to share their experience with BK: participants can choose to either upload a photo, submit a YouTube clip or write a story about a memorable time they spent at the chain.
According to First We Feast, while the Burger King wine definitely marks the first time that the chain introduces their own brand of alcoholic beverages, they've tried their share of similar endeavors, such as the 2010 "Whopper Bar," a concept kind of like a pub in the sense that people could drink beer while eating burgers.
Over the past few months, Burger King has been making some seriously interesting advertising moves well besides the Whopper Wine, including the release of a Whopper fragrance in their Japanese franchise as well as their recent attempt to create a Peace Burger with longtime rival McDonald's.
In any case, be sure to participate for a bottle of Burger King wine if you're in Spain!
