At 55 years of age, Sean Penn has done just about everything, having found huge critical acclaim in a career that has brought him two Academy Awards (for Clin Eastwood's "Mystic River" in 2004 and later for "Milk" in 2008), and on the way to success, he has been with some of the most stunning women in Hollywood - and there has been a new revelation regarding Sean Penn's girlfriends!
Having been married twice, to Queen of Pop Madonna in the 1980s and later to Golden Globe winner Robin Wright in the 1990s, it seems like there was a time, when he was on a break from his second wife, when singer Jewel became Sean Penn's girlfriend.
According to People Magazine, the revelation that Jewel was once Sean Penn's girlfriend came from the "You Were Meant For Me" singer in the flesh, as she confessed to having fallen in love with the "21 Grams" actor in her recently released memoir book.
E! Online reports that Jewel's book is called "Jewel-Never Broken: Songs Are Only Half the Story," and a recent excerpt from it reveals that the "Who Will Save Your Soul" songstress was once Sean Penn's girlfriend, when she was young and he still hadn't any Oscar nods to his name.
According to The Daily Mail, at the time Jewel and Penn went out, he hadn't married Wright, who was actually Sean Penn's girlfriend (on-again and off-again) at the time - and, of course, Penn's story with Jewel came to an end after he reconciled with Wright, later marrying her after they'd had two children together.
"I liked his mind sober, and had fun playing this way," writes Jewel of making Penn work for her attention. "When I told him this in all seriousness, in a dive bar after a sound check, he responded with a melancholy stare and then canary-eating grin and said it would be impossible not to fall in love with me. I looked at him to see if he was serious. It seemed he was."
After Penn's divorce from Wright, he has been linked to Scarlett Johansson and was engaged to Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron until earlier this summer; most recently, it has been rumored that Minka Kelly is Sean Penn's girlfriend.
