‘Star Trek’ 2015: ‘Beyond’ Release Date Pushed Back, When Will Chris Pine And Zachary Quinto Go Where No One Has Gone Before?

It was barely a few months ago that Paramount, Skydance and Bad Robotstudio execs finally confirmed the "Star Trek" 2015 sequel, two years after the last film of the franchise, "Star Trek: Into Darkness," which starred Benedict Cumberbatch besides Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto; now, the date of the follow-up movie, "Star Trek: Beyond," has been pushed back.

In the latest "Star Trek" 2015 news, the tale of the space exploration where no one has gone before has been pushed back a couple of weeks from its original release date, as the film will now officially hit theaters on July 22 next year instead of the scheduled July 8 date.

According to The Wrap, this "Star Trek" 2015 news means the film will now be contending completely different films, as originally it would have fought the upcoming Zac Efron comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" as well as the animated film "The Secret Life of Pets," but now it will face "King Arthur" and "Ice Age: Collision Course" on its opening weekend.

As Forbes reports, this "Star Trek" 2015 announcement means bad business for Guy Ritchie's Camelot-themed film, and there's a strong possibility it will now be moved to the July 8 date.

As far as "Star Trek" 2015 is concerned, the third installment of the new saga will be facing some heavy contenders later on, including the "Ghostbusters" and "Power Rangers" reboots and the highly awaited Warner release "Suicide Squad" just two weeks later.

According to Cinema Blend, there's no official statement regarding the reason of the "Star Trek" release date change, whether it's a production delay or some marketing issue, but it's clear that the studio just made things endlessly more complicated for the film, which was penned by co-star Simon Pegg and Doug Jung.

For now, the "Star Trek" 2015 shoot is well underway, and Idris Elba has been officially revealed to be in the cast, reportedly as a Klingon officer.
