This week marks the beginning of the annual Tokyo Game Show, Asia's biggest gaming event. With Microsoft and Nintendo opting to sit out of the conference, all eyes were on Sony to deliver the big announcements.
The Japanese gaming giant delivered for the most part, revealing a host of new trailers, games, and updates.
On the hardware front, the big news was the fact that the Playstation 4 would be receiving a price cut in Japan. The console will now retail for 34,980 yen ($292 dollars). The company also gave an update on its VR headset, saying that the previously named 'Project Morpheus' would now be known simply as the 'Playstation VR.'
Sony didn't skimp on the software announcements either, sharing a wide selection of first and third party games.
The biggest of which was Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. The awkwardly titled game is actually a compilation of three previous entries in the franchise. It combines Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD together with Kingdom Hearts X and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By sleep.
The collection is seen as a precursor to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3, the next entry in the beloved franchise. No release date for that game was revealed unfortunately.
Another big revelation from Sony concerned Gravity Rush, the beloved but relatively obscure action game that debuted on the Playstation Vita. Sony announced that it would be bringing a remastered version of the game to Playstation 4 on December 10 in Japan and February 2016 for North America and Europe.
A Sequel, titled Gravity Rush 2, is also coming to PS4 sometime next year.
Bloodborne, arguably is the PS4's biggest hit so far, it also got some love at the event. A new expansion pack titled The Old Hunters was announced with a November 24 release date penciled in.
