‘Star Wars’ Plane 2015: All Nippon Airways’ R2D2 Boeing Dreamliner Jet Made Its Debut – This IS The Droid You’re Looking For [PHOTOS+VIDEO]

With the release of the first film of the third "Star Wars" trilogy only three months away and fans of the Disney-owned science fiction saga getting giddier as the date approaches, a few lucky All Nippon Airways passengers just got to be a part of the first outing of the "Star Wars" plane 2015!

Japan's flag carrier airline has a history of releasing, from time to time, plane models that have been painted with iconic figures from pop culture, with the most famous one in the past being their Pokemon airplanes - but their recently launched "Star Wars" plane 2015 trumps them all.

As Food World News had already reported, there's a set of not one but three different "Star War" planes 2015 the airline's launching, and the first of these, based on the likeness of beloved droid R2D2 (going back to the very first trilogy), has just made its debut.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Star Wars" plane 2015 is a joint effort between the airline and plane-making company Boeing, as they lent their new 787 Dreamliner design for the venture, as part of ANA's five-year partnership with Disney.

As USA Today reports, the "Star Wars" plane 2015 is still a few weeks away from its first flight, scheduled for October 18 (from Tokyo to Vancouver), but that didn't stop the companies involved in its making from making a big debut for the droid-inspired airplane, as last Saturday the final plane was unveiled at last.

According to Geek Wire, the unveiling of the "Star Wars" plane 2015 was no small event, and it even featured the droid in the flesh (or circuits?) along longtime pal C3P0, celebrating the first of three aircrafts based on "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens."

Another aircraft will be based on the likeness of BB-8, a new droid from the upcoming film, while the third airplane will feature both droids.
