Wendy’s Pork Cheese Fries Adding To Pulled Pork Menu, Fast Food Chain Desperate After Shake Shack Surpassed Worth?

Shake Shack, one of the staple fast casual restaurants in the United States (along with Chipotle), just recently surpassed fast food giant Wendy's in terms of how much money it makes in Wall Street, as its stock currently has the same worth as its competitor - is this what prompted this new Wendy's pork obsession?

For a limited time online, Wendy's pork menu will be readily available once more after a long hiatus, and some of the items available in the launch (which is just at the end of barbecue season, as summer reaches an end in the northern hemisphere) will be the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and, most notoriously, the BBQ Pulled Pork Cheese Fries.

According to a statement released by the chain through PR News Wire, for Wendy's pork return, the chain decided (after some consideration) to apply barbeque sauce by drizzling it on top of the meat beforehand.

For Wendy's pork menu, the chain's also offering three custom-crafted sauces, namely in flavors sweet, smoky and spicy, for patrons to take a pick at what they want from their new menu items.

The Daily Meal talks further about Wendy's pork options, saying that the BBQ Pork Sandwich has smoked pulled pork with "cool, crunch coleslaw on a toasted brioche bun" as well as the previously explained choice in sauces, and it's sold from $4.49.

In the meantime, the BBQ Pulled Pork Cheese Fries have a topping of cheddar cheese sauce, mixed with smoked pulled pork and red onions as well as one of the three sauces available, starting at a price of $2.99.

Wendy's move follows similar ones by McDonald's and Burger King, while other regional chains did much of the same, as Consumerist calls 2015 the "summer of pork" as Wendy's closes the season with its new menu.
