After having created three of the shows with most fascinating female characters in television history (namely "Grey's Anatomy" starring Ellen Pompeo, then followed by Kerry Washington's "Scandal" and Viola Davis' "How To Get Away with Murder"), many have wondered about Shonda Rhimes' married status - but she's made it clear she won't be tying the knot anytime soon.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the star writer, director and producer addressed Shonda Rhimes' married status, as at 45 she's never shown any desire to commit to marriage, and she has recently just realized the reason behind that is the fact that she just doesn't want to.
"I was seriously dating somebody and I was like, I don't want to do this. I guess I had been secretly feeling that way and writing it for Cristina [Yang]," said the writer, discussing Shonda Rhimes' married status, Refinery29 reports. ''We're all so conditioned to want it, I felt like there must be something wrong with me. But the minute I said it out loud to my family, it was fantastic. ''Now if somebody says, 'Are you looking for that?' I say, 'Nope, looking for a boyfriend, not a husband. And there's a freedom to that. There's no pressure if you're not looking for it.''
According to The Huffington Post, the interview addressing Shonda Rhimes' married status comes as she's currently her new memoir, "Year of Yes," as she explained how she'd been unable to come to terms with her wishes directly, instead passing them up to Sandra Oh's character in "Grey's Anatomy."
Besides the interesting declaration regarding Shonda Rhimes' married status, the big ABC moneymaker will be featured in the magazine's November cover, where she'll be appearing with her three superstar leading ladies as they speak of what's next and what it's like to work with Rhimes.
