For most of this year, since the February announcement of the "All New, All Different" brand, Marvel Comics has dedicated itself to recreating the mythology of some of its most famous characters, as the storyline of the "Secret Wars" allowed them to reinvent many of their characters - including the Totally Awesome Hulk 2015.
For decades, The Hulk has been Bruce Banner (played by Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Edward Norton and Eric Bana also taking the role in the past fifteen years), but now, following the recent moves to present an African-American Captain America, a Muslim Ms. Marvel, a Latino Spider-Man and a female Thor, it's time for a Korean-American Hulk.
According to First Post, the new version of the character, embodied by Korean-American 19 year-old boy genius Amadeus Cho, and he's not Incredible anymore but rather the Totally Awesome Hulk 2015 ... because, unlike Banner, Cho actually loves being The Hulk and has no inner struggle with this role.
"One thing is for certain - Amadeus Cho is a completely different kind of Hulk. Not tormented, not conflicted," wrote the comic book giant while announcing the Totally Awesome Hulk 2015, Mashable reports. "Just a giant green wrecking machine who loves being the Hulk! What could possibly go wrong?"
Entertainment Weekly recently spoke to Axel Alonso (Marvel's editor-in-chief) as well as the two Korean-American men that conform the team behind the Totally Awesome Hulk 2015, where they discussed why they chose Cho, a boy genius character that has been around Marvel for about a decade, to take the place of the new Hulk.
One of the reasons Cho was picked to become the new Hulk is the fact that he has just about the same physique as Banner, a "weakling," while retaining his intellect - but as a teenage kid "who hasn't lived much yet," his perspective of carrying with the heavy responsibility of being The Hulk is completely different.
The first-ever Totally Awesome Hulk 2015 issue will ship on December.
