Bono Net Worth: U2 Singer Richer Than Beatle Paul McCartney And Madonna –Because He Invested In Facebook!

The world's richest pop stars has long included the likes of former Beatles band member Paul McCartney as well as the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna, but there's one famous philanthropist that's now passed them both to become the richest person in the music business, though Bono's net worth doesn't entirely come from his work in music.

A new report has revealed that Bono's net worth is far larger than that of any of his music pals, as in fact, way back in 2009, he bought a 2.3 percent share in Facebook with an investment group he co-founded - and, of course, the social network being what it is, this has definitely paid up.

According to Irish Central, Bono's net worth has grown rapidly in the past six years, as he's made much more money than he had during a career with U2 that has spanned over two decades at this point.

It's also been reported that Bono, alongside bandmates The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr., has been heavily criticized over supposed tax evasion, as Bono's net worth has also continued to grow from the band as they're domiciled outside their native country of Ireland.

Page Six reports that Bono's net worth is a few hundred million ahead of McCartney (who's worth $818 million) and Madonna ($582 million), so, yes, it's safe to say the 55 year-old singer and musician is quite loaded with money.

Through Elevation Partners, a private-equity firm he co-founded with Roger McNamee, Marc Bodnick, Fred Anderson and John Riccitello, and they're also involved with Palm, Inc. (with a 25 percent stake) as well as SDI Media Group and Forbes Media, the people behind the magazine, its website and all related original content.

While there are conflicting rumors about Bono's net worth, currently The Mirror lists it as $1.4 billion.
