'What We Do In Shadows' Director Jemaine Clement Says Sequel Will Focus On Werewolves

Fans of the hilarious vampire flick 'What We Do in Shadows' can finally rejoice! A sequel is in the planning stages, and it will shine the moonlight on the werewolves (not swear-wolves)!

Director Jemaine Clement recently spoke with The Seattle Times, where he confirmed that the werewolf Anton will be getting the main focus in 'What We Do in Shadows 2.'

Anton, who was played by Rhys Darby in 'What We Do in Shadows,' was one of the most popular characters due to his controlling nature. Anton and his fellow werewolves are set to be the stars of the new mockumentary.

'What We Do in Shadows' was released in 2014 and immediately gained a cult following due to its humor and fresh take at vampire lore. The film is about a group of centuries-old vampires who are living together in an apartment in Wellington, where they have not adapted to life in the 21st century. Hilarity ensues when they accidentally turn Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) into a vampire and the old vampires are slowly taught how to adapt to modern life.

Jemaine Clement played Vladislav in the film, while co-director Taika Waititi portrayed Viago. There is no word yet whether the two will reprise their roles in the film.

Before the 'What We Do in Shadows' sequel will be made, Jemaine Clement will be working on a few projects first. He will be touring with 'Lord of the Rings' star Bret McKenzie as the 'Flight of the Conchords,' the musical comedy duo who starred in their own HBO show.

Clement admits that he prefers touring compared to working on the TV show. "The TV show was a lot of stress, but the touring's pretty fun," he said.

'What We Do in Shadows' also starred Ben Fransham, Jonathan Brugh and Stu Rutherford. There is no word yet on when the sequel will start development.
