J.K. Rowling Movie ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’ Begins Shooting, Eddie Redmayne Leads – Who Else Involved In ‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff?

It's been four years since the world's most beloved boy wizard, Harry Potter, las reached the big screens all over the world, making superstars out of actors like Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis - and now, a new J.K. Rowling movie approaches for fans of the saga!

The upcoming J.K. Rowling movie isn't directly a sequel, as it happens ninety years before the action of the events in the "Harry Potter" books/movies, but it's also not a prequel in itself; however, it does happen in the same magical universe as the beloved series.

"'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," said the author in a statement last year, speaking about the upcoming J.K. Rowling movie. "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway."

According to Time Magazine, Warner Bros. has announced that the J.K. Rowling movie began shooting in their London Leavesden studios last Monday, in an impressive cast led by recent Best Actor Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, plus Katherine Waterson (from last year's "Inherent Vice"), Dan Fogler (who voices Zeng in "Kung Fu Panda"), Alison Sudol (from "What To Expect When You're Expecting"), Oscar nominee Samantha Morton and Colin Farrell.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, this J.K. Rowling movie brings back some of the major players from behind the scenes in "Harry Potter," including David Yates, the director of the last four "Potter" movies, while Rowling herself was in charge of penning the script.

Coming Soon reports that others returning to work on this new J.K. Rowling movie include producer David Heyman (who was behind all eight "Harry Potter" films) as well as Steve Klover, as the new film follows the story of Newt Scamander, an expert on magical creatures who documents species.
