Orlando Bloom Is Returning To Pirates of the Caribbean

It looks like Captain Jack Sparrow will be joined by a familiar face during his next adventure. At the recently concluded D23 expo this past weekend, Disney announced that Orlando Bloom will be returning to the swashbuckling action adventure franchise. The fifth pirates' film titled, 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' will hit theatres on July 7, 2017.

Bloom's character Will Turner was one of the key players during the events of the series' first three films - 'Curse of The Black Pearl', 'Dead Man's Chest', and 'At World's End' - but he, together with fellow core cast member Keira Knightley, chose not be a part of the fourth Pirates film: 'On Stranger Tides.'

Not much is known of Pirates 5, but it looks like a lot of new characters will be introduced. Here is the film's official synopsis courtesy of Den of Geek:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea...including him. Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Aside from Bloom, original cast member Geoffrey Rush is expected to return for this film as Jack Sparrow's sometime friend and rival Captain Barbossa. Disney did not mention if Knightley is being tapped to reprise her role as Elizabeth Swann. Johnny Depp will of course, return as the iconic pirate Jack Sparrow. He made an appearance in character at D23 to break the news.

They will be joined by newcomers such as Academy Award Winner Javier Bardem and 'The Maze Runner's' Kaya Scodelario.
