At last weekend's D23 Expo, Marvel Studios unveiled the first footage for two of their highly anticipated Superhero blockbusters.
Captain America: Civil War, the third and final instalment of the Captain America saga, showed off a huge clip that featured many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's major players.
According to IGN, the video gives us our first glimpse as Chadwick Boseman in the role of Black Panther and also has an appearance from Marvel's latest star Paul Rudd reprising his role as Ant-Man. The D23 footage also included the Easter egg scene shown at the end of Ant-Man:
"Crossbones removes his mask and reveals his scarred face, turning to Cap and saying, "He remembered you, you know. Your little pal Bucky." The footage then cut to the scene from the credits of Ant-Man, where Cap and Falcon are talking to Bucky. Bucky tells Cap that he remembers his mom's name was Sarah, and that he used to stuff newspapers in his shoes. Cap smiles, knowing that some trace of his old friend is still in there."
Aside from this there was plenty of action featuring Marvel stalwarts like Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and The Falcon. The one glaring omission was Tom Holland's Spider-man, who is pegged to make his debut in the MCU during the film.
The other big reveal from Marvel was a first look at Doctor Strange. The film is still has a long way to go but the studio opted to show some concept shots. According to IGN:
The D23 Expo crowd was then treated to a concept art sizzle reel (the footage is not yet available to anyone outside the D23 Expo). It showed Strange in a both the red cloak and a more traditional outfit, but with muted colors. Another bit of concept art showed him in an outfit similar to a trench coat.
Doctor Strange will star Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role.
