Ellen DeGeneres has always been set to reprise her role of Dory for the "Finding Nemo" sequel, "Finding Dory." The rest of the cast has been unknown, until D23 happened.
On Friday, new details about Disney-Pixar's "Finding Dory" - as well as the Star Wars theme park for Disneyland -- were revealed at the 2015 D23 Expo held at Anaheim, California.
Disney has long taken pride in their family-oriented values, and "Finding Dory" is no exception. The award-winning ABC series, "Modern Family" is actually owned by Disney.
So it's not that much of a surprise that the series' actors, Ty Burrell (who plays Phil Dunphy) and Ed O'Neill (who portrays Jay Pritchett) were cast to play Dory's new fishy friends in "Finding Dory."
Actually, Ty Burrell was already revealed as a member of the cast back in 2014. The surprise was Ed O'Neill and Katilin Olson of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" appearing on the D23 stage, alongside Ellen DeGeneres and Ty Burrell.
Ed O'Neill will be voicing Hank, "a canktakerous octopus", as per E! News. In fact, Disney revealed a movie scene photo of Hank with Dory at the Disney convention - which marks as the first officially released scene from "Finding Dory."
Meanwhile, Ty Burrell will be lending his voice to a "misguided beluga whale" named Bailey. Katilin Olson will play the role of Destiny, "a kind-hearted whale shark," as said in the film's official Facebook Page.
As fans know all too well, Dory has short-term memory loss. "Finding Dory" entails the search for her family and get to know more about her past. Not to fret, Dory will be reuniting with Nemo and his dad Marlin, which Albert Brooks will be playing once again.
Other cast members include Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy, who will be voicing Dory's parents, Jenny and Charlie.
Catch "Finding Dory" when it hits theatres on June 17, 2016.
