'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Animated Shorts Feature Star-Lord And Groot Origin Stories [VIDEOS]

It will still be a long wait until the release of the sequel to 2014's 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' but fans can whet their appetite for all things Star-Lord with the upcoming animated series.

'Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy' will feature Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Drax the Destroyer in animated form, and will follow the events that happened after the movie. The animated series has recently released a quirky trailer featuring a song from Star-Lord's 'Awesome Mix Vol. 1' as well as the gang in action and a glimpse at Gamora's blue sister Nebula.

The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' animated series will not only follow Peter Quill and the gang, but it will also feature some backstories on the heroes. Marvel Entertainment has released two-part clips on Star-Lord's Origins as well as Groot's Origin story.

The first part of 'Star-Lord Origins' covers the events that happened after Peter Quill's abduction by the Ravager ship. He finds out that he has been imprisoned. Although he manages to escape, he ends up being thrown out into the atmosphere.

'Star-Lord Origins' Pt. 2 sees Peter Quill being saved by Yondu, who in turn is attacked by his fellow Ravagers. The young Peter Quill rescues Yondu and is made into a Ravager.

Both parts of 'Groot Origins' feature the narration of Rocket Raccoon, for the obvious reason that Groot and companions have limited speech. However, it does show footage of how Groot started out as a sapling who tried to save his planet from Ronan the Accuser before he is taken by Ravagers and finally meet Rocket Raccoon.

'Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy' will feature the voice talents of Will Friedle as Star-Lord, James Arnold Taylor as Yondu, Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon and Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot. The series will premiere on Disney XD on September 26, 2015.
