The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is being built up from every level, and although the production company started at the top with the Avengers, the lower levels are being worked on from the television angle, including government officials through "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and through Marvel's Netflix series, the first of which, "Daredevil," already saw the light last spring.
After the recent announcement from the streaming website turned production company, a few details regarding Marvel's Netflix series have been revealed, including the official logo for the next show to be released, "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" starring Krysten Ritter.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the streaming website revealed the official logo of the second Marvel Netflix series last Friday, and it’s the second time in the same week that “A.K.A. Jessica Jones” is talked about after months of silence, after it was revealed that it would possibly be released by October.
The show’s executive producer, Melissa Rosenberg, also revealed that it would be a “very, very different show” than the first Marvel Netflix series, “Daredevil” starring Charlie Cox.
What Culture reports that the next Marvel Netflix series will be more of a “dark psychological thriller,” greatly focusing on Jessica’s traumatic past (she’s a retired superhero fleeing her demons).
Other news include that The Punisher won’t be bringing R-Rated violence to the MCU, there’s still no-one cast as Danny Rand/Iron Fist (or nobody has been officially announced, at least), David Tennant’s villain Purple Man (who stands against Jessica Jones) will be a very complex character following the trend set by Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk – and the fact that the success of “Daredevil” may end up pushing back “The Defenders,” the show where all these characters are supposed to meet.
In the meantime, Screen Crush reports that it seems like production has already begun for the follow-up series, “Luke Cage,” and it seems like Cornell Cottonmouth may be the show’s very first villain.
In any case, there’s still a lot of great stuff to watch with Marvel’s Netflix series getting two releases a year!
