Last year, the latest film by Seth Rogen and James Franco, "The Interview," became a hit without having been released after the North Korean government tried to halt it from premiering, forcing a public opinion scandal that even got President Barack Obama involved - but now, it seems like the "Pineapple Express" duo might be delving into bar mitzvah territory!
It's not exactly that Seth Rogen and James Franco are performing in a bar mitzvah, but rather a fairly eyebrow-raising story: in fact, the "Knocked Up" actor and comedian is setting up his pal to go through the Jewish ritual in a public event for charity.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the upcoming Seth Rogen and James Franco event was organized by the "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" funny man and his wife Lauren Millen Rogen, and the ceremony will be held for a good cause: Hilarity for Charity, a foundation the couple created to promote awareness of Alzheimer's disease.
People Magazine reports that the event is the fourth annual variety show the charity has organized, and on it Seth Rogen and James Franco will follow the millenary traditions of the Jewish people - and it seems they're going the whole nine yards.
"Ever since I've known James, he's been talking about wanting a bar mitzvah," Rogen explained in a statement, according to Variety, speaking about the newest Seth Rogen and James Franco collaboration. "We're excited to see him finally become a man while also helping us raise awareness and funds for people living with Alzheimer's and towards research that will lead to a cure. And in celebration we'll also have a mohel and a live bris for James at the event."
Tickets for the event will be getting sold starting August 11, but the rest of the line-up for the variety show is still unclear, though past editions have included Marvel stars Paul Rudd and Samuel L. Jackson as well as Sarah Silverman, Jack Black, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruno Mars.
It's always great to see Seth Rogen and James Franco collaborating for a good cause!
