Kim Kardashian Gets Flak Over Morning Sickness Pill Endorsement

Two weeks ago Kim Kardashian announced that her Instagram is off limits to advertisers. And then just yesterday, reality TV star pitched about her new morning sickness pill, Diclegis. What's getting more flack is that she is endorsing a drug with a controversial past, NY Daily News reports.

Kim Kardashian is 5 months pregnant with her second child with rapper, Kanye West. Already the little boy has a name - Yeezy, Jr. She has been having morning sickness related to pregnancy, although most pregnant women experience this just on their first three months. But then, this is a Kardashian-West child so you can expect the unexpected. The expectant mom has been monitoring her diet and weight, and has gained only 20 lbs over the 20 week period. This is relatively healthy compared to her first pregnancy when she was very bloated.

Diclegis-manufacturer claims that their drug is the only FDA-approved pill for morning sickness. Its controversial past refers to the incident in 1983 when the pills were pulled out from the market following lawsuits that it caused defects in newborns. However, as Kim Kardashian recently touted, the medicine is so safe it would not risk the baby.

In some countries, it is not allowed to run direct-to-consumer advertisements, but this is allowed in the US.  Although studies show there is no proof that endorsing celebrities affect the buying behavior of the market.  They may remember Kim Kardashian talking about it, but it would not mean they will buy the same drug when feeling poorly during pregnancy.

Doctors recommend eating small, frequent meals, eating more of bland, carbo-rich foods.

Diclegis, however, is not recommended for mothers, who breast feed, or with asthma, eye problems or with stomach and bladder problems. It can also cause drowsiness.

There have been many reactions to the Instagram post of Kim Kardashian endorsing the drug. One in particular said if a person posted so much selfies with too much cleavage hanging out; it is bound to cause nausea.
