Stephen Colbert Game: Before ‘Late Night’ Premiere, Comedy Central Alum Releases Videogame – And It’s Awesome!

After leaving Comedy Central's "Colbert Report" late last year, the man who will be replacing David Letterman come next fall is prepared to give it his best, and he's currently staying relevant through social media, his new YouTube channel ... and the Stephen Colbert game!

News outlets are applauding the move to create a Stephen Colbert game, as part of the strategy that will expose the host and comedian to a broader audience than those who were familiar with his former job, where he played a cartoonish version of a Conservative persona - but now he's showing the world just what his comedy's capable of without the "Stephen Colbert" mask!

According to Engadget, the new Stephen Colbert game is called "Escape from the Man-Sized Cabinet," and it's pretty much how it sounds: the player goes into an office cabinet, choose from different text prompts and ... well, waking up a centaur, which is fairly out of the ordinary.

CNET reports that the new Stephen Colbert game has "all the snappiness of Grand Theft Auto," and on it the user gets to play Colbert and make a series of different decisions to escape this cabinet.

Of course, as International Business Times reports, this Stephen Colbert game is part of a major campaign to keep the host relevant, as he's been staying on headlines ahead of his September 8 return to television helming "The Late Show" for the first time, a role he's sure to ace - and in the meantime, he's spoken about NASA recently reaching Pluto through New Horizons, Donald Trump's campaign announcement and he even interviewed rapper Eminem in an interview that ended up going viral.

Through this, Colbert's hoping to introduce audiences to his own comedic persona well beyond what fans are used to from his Comedy Central role - and staying in the spotlight at the same time.

Be sure to check out the new Stephen Colbert game while waiting for his CBS premiere!
